Iroquois County is a county located in the state of Illinois. As of 2000, the population is 31,334. Its county seat is Watseka, Illinois.

Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,896 km² (1,118 mi²). 2,892 km² (1,116 mi²) of it is land and 4 km² (2 mi²) of it
is water. The total area is 0.14% water.


Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 31,334 people, 12,220 households, and 8,712 families residing in the county. The population density is
11/km² (28/mi²). There are 13,362 housing units at an average density of 5/km² (12/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 95.93% White, 0.71%
Black or African American, 0.17% Native American, 0.30% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 2.07% from other races, and 0.79% from two or more
races. 3.88% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 12,220 households out of which 31.30% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.20% are married couples living together,
8.50% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.70% are non-families. 25.20% of all households are made up of individuals
and 13.40% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.51 and the average family size is 2.99.

In the county the population is spread out with 25.40% under the age of 18, 7.10% from 18 to 24, 25.70% from 25 to 44, 23.60% from 45 to 64, and
18.10% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 96.20 males. For every 100 females age
18 and over, there are 91.80 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $38,071, and the median income for a family is $45,417. Males have a median income of
$31,799 versus $20,936 for females. The per capita income for the county is $18,435. 8.70% of the population and 6.80% of families are below
the poverty line. Out of the total population, 11.80% of those under the age of 18 and 6.70% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
