Keeping the Streets Free of Debris
The village expends ample resources to maintain clean streets,
gutters, and working street drains. Please help by not mowing grass
clippings into the gutters of the curbed streets. Although we work to
assure that everyone is informed of this request, there is a
provision for a citation by ordinance 12.04.080. Please help the
streets and maintenance personnel with this request.

Building Compliance
The village board of Onarga has worked diligently to see that the
building code is researched, updated, and implemented. Many hours
of coordination of duties between the Clerk, Building Inspector, and
the board members have taken place to assure that enforcement of
the code is efficient as possible. Article III, Section 17.44.070
states: “No use shall be established, and no building or structure
shall be erected or structurally altered or expanded, without a
permit having first being issued by the building inspector.”

This does not mean that construction or remodeling can be
performed that is not in compliance with the codes adopted by the
village. It merely sets the requirement for a permit. Checking with
the Building Inspector before you begin can save a lot of time and
money. The Building Inspector’s name and contact information is
listed with other village personnel.

Durham Park
The Onarga Swimming Pool is open from June through September.
Check this website for information each spring. The park also offers
ball fields, a basketball court and a pavilion. If you would like to
reserve the pavilion or the Community Center building for assist the
village in renewing the park in any way, please call the chairman of
the Committee for Recreational Activities.
