Parks & Recreation
Onarga's Durham Park in the northwest corner of town serves as the focal point for local spring,
summer and fall activities. We've got a swimming pool with attached kiddie pool, one large and several
small park pavilions, several softball and hardball diamonds, tennis courts, a basketball court, football
and soccer fields, playground equipment and large grassy open areas for picnickers. The annual July
4th Independence Day Celebration in the Park with Church, Civic and Hispanic food stands, games,
Bingo, beer tent, entertainment and the fireworks display at dusk rates high on everybody's list for
summer fun for friends and family.
The Onarga Theater on Seminary Street attracts movie-goers with first run films newly released.

'Buy a Brick' program for Onarga's Durham Park
Friends of Durham Park invite you to become a permanent part of Durham Park by
purchasing a commemorative brick for the new patio area. The patio area will be
installed on the west side of the concession stand. We hope to have the patio in place
by the summer of 2009.
Purchasing a brick is an easy way to leave a lasting family legacy at Durham Park
while helping to pay for further improvements in the park.
Engraved on your brick could be your family name, a child's name and year of
graduating school, your business name or your organization's name. You could also
choose to engrave a brick in honor of someone special such as a favorite teacher or
neighbor, or in a loved one's memory.
These bricks are available in two sizes and we will try to accommodate your
engraving wishes as long as they fit into the boundaries.
Please watch your mail for a "Buy a Brick Program" form or pick one up at the
Village Hall, Federated Bank of Onarga, or the First State Bank of Forrest. Please
return the form with your payment to Becky Morgan. If given as a gift, a certificate will
be given. The deadline for ordering is March 31, 2009. Donations for this project are
tax-deductable.
If you have questions please call Becky at 815-268-7490.
