






The Village of Onarga is located in Iroquois County, Illinois in East Central
Illinois. Onarga's residents consider it to be the Midwest's perfect small town.
Onarga is proud to be the home of the only movie theater in Iroquois County.
Onarga boasts a 9-hole golf course and Country Club; a beautiful, spacious
public park with a public swimming pool, three baseball/softball fields, a
soccer field, and a Community Center Building for private and civic functions;
two gas stations; two banks; and a grocery store. Onarga also has a library,
a barber shop, a plumbing and heating contractor, a hardware store, a
professional photographer, two insurance companies, a medical clinic, an
eye doctor, a dentist, three nurseries, a restaurant, a funeral home, a hair
salon, two automotive repair businesses and a sporting goods store. There
are three churches and Iroquois West Middle School. Onarga has almost
everything a family needs or wants to enjoy quality of living in a friendly,
small-town atmosphere.
Onarga boasts many civic groups: The Onarga American Legion, the
Onarga Lions Club, the Onarga Chamber of Commerce, the Onarga Music
Club, The Princess Onarga Questers and the Onarga Historical Society.
The Onarga Historical Society is housed at 105 W. Seminary Ave. and
has many beautiful displays and photographs. Members meet the first
Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The building is open for visitors each
Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

The Onarga Fire Protection District boasts many dedicated firemen.
The third largest county in Illinois in area, Iroquois County offers a rich
mixture of agriculture, business, and manufacturing with plenty of really nice
little towns to live in, one of the nicest being Onarga. Forty miles of Interstate
Highway 57 bisect the county from north to south, and US Routes 24 and 45
cross at Gilman.

Biography: Fifth generation Onargan -- attended both grade and high
school in Onarga. Graduated from Michigan State University -
agricultural technology in Landscape & Nursery Management. He has been involved in the operation of
the family business, Onarga Nursery, since childhood. Former member of the Iroquois County Board for
14 years, served as chairman in last term. Trustee and past chairman of the Board of Trustees--Grand
Prairie Seminary. Member of the Onarga Lions Club. Active in his local church. Father of four children.
